Jack Hill was the guest speaker for the BEREA’s October 11th meeting.  He said the Georgia Retirement System was the 53rd largest in the world and 24th in the nation. He gave statistic that helped explain how the retirement system is operating in Georgia.  He also said that there has been a gradual improvement in Georgia’s Reserve.  Forecasted in DC still say job, spenders and investors are down, but Georgia tends to be growing at a rate of growth of 5%.  He also talked about the State Health Benefit Plan and taxable income.

        The BEREA also honored the mayor of Claxton, Luther Royal.  He is very active in the schools and interested in the activities of the young people in Claxton.

  • Plans are being made by Claudia Christiansen for a fun field trip to Midway.

  • This Unit is still in need of a Scrapbook Chairman. If you can help with this, please contact David Greene.

  • Update: David Greene said Wanda Morgan has consented to be the Scrapbook Chairman.
  • The BEREA is collecting Box Tops for Education, drink tabs, and Campbell’s soup labels.  Please save these and bring them to the meetings. 

  • Thanks to all of you that are bringing door prizes for the meeting.  This is how the unit supports the Educational Gift fund.
